Fireplaces and other wood burning appliances
Some insurance companies will require that the solid fuel burning appliance be WETT certified. WETT (Wood Energy Technology Transfer Inc.) is an organization the trains and certifies contractors that build or work on solid fuel burning appliances or fireplaces. If your insurance company insists on a WETT inspection, Skyview Inspection Services can arrange to have the WETT inspection done for you. We work with a number of WETT certified contractors and coordinate the WETT inspection, preferably at the same time as the home inspection; this causes less interruption to the occupants of the home.

These items are inspected in a limited manner during a home inspection. Components that are hidden or not readily visible for inspection cannot be inspected. That is why having an inspector with extensive knowledge and experience in the construction, applicable regulations and inspection of solid fuel burning appliances is important. Skyview Inspection Services staff has this knowledge and in most cases an outside independent inspection is not needed.
